Majority of teaching javanese science ritual "ngasrep" as a means to draw closer to GOD.
"Ngasrep" is prohibition to eat certain foods. For example: rice, salt, chilies, sugar. All of which can cause taste. If we can control to not eat foods that create flavors. The purpose is so that we can control ourselves lust. That ultimately we can control our emotions to our inner peace.
Besides aiming to mind. Food abstinence as mentioned above can also control our weight, because food is a source of calories which, if not used within the body will turn into fats that are stored in the body which ultimately can lead to obesity.

How to "Ngasrep":
We should never eat: rice (staple food), salt, chilies, sugar for 24 hours, starting at 6 pm in the afternoon until six o'clock the next day as well.
This is not done every day, may be done two times a week.
First we perform the ritual above. We will experience fatigue and less energy loss. But when we used to do it, our bodies will stay in shape and weight we would be controlled. In addition we will also be protected from diseases caused by obesity.
